Food particles get stuck in the little grooves on our teeth all the time, which, unfortunately, turns them into breeding grounds for cavity-causing bacteria. We use dental sealants to create a protective covering over these grooves for a smooth barrier that makes it harder for food and bacteria to stick around.
Schedule a consultationWe know, we know. You brush your teeth regularly, and you limit sugary treats. But even with the best care, your teeth can still be vulnerable to cavities. That’s where sealants come in! They act as an extra layer of protection to give teeth a better chance at fighting pesky cavities.
Kids are explorers. They put everything in their mouths, from toys to fingers, which makes them more prone to cavities. Sealants act like a safety net for their growing smiles. We recommend having dental sealants applied between the ages of 6 and 12, and to schedule regular dental check-ups to monitor their condition.
While most of our patients think that sealants are just for kids, adults can actually benefit from them too! If you missed out on them as a child, or perhaps if your old fillings have worn down and have left your teeth exposed, sealants can be used to protect your teeth.
Getting sealants is easy! First, our hygienist will clean your teeth to make sure the sealant can stick properly. Then, Dr. Mehta will apply a liquid sealant to the chewing surfaces of your teeth which is cured with special light, and voila! Your teeth are protected. The entire process takes about 30 minutes, and it’s completely painless
Are dental sealants safe?
Yes, dental sealants are very safe!
How long will my sealant last?
With proper oral hygiene, dental sealants can last several years. However, regular check-ups with Dr. Mehta are important to ensure they stay intact.
Can dental sealants prevent all cavities?
While dental sealants are highly effective in preventing cavities, they are not a guarantee. Good oral hygiene practices are still crucial to keep your teeth healthy
Can I remove dental sealants?
Dental sealants are not permanent and can be removed if necessary. However, this is usually not recommended unless there is a specific reason.
Ready to schedule? We look forward to meeting you.
